Established by the Carrollton Women's Club in January of 1984, the Carrollton Library came to life in the old real estate office for the Carrisbrook subdivision in Isle of Wight County, Va.  In 1999 the tiny 600 square foot building closed its doors to the public.  The library's collection moved to it's present location in a brand new 5,500 square foot facility.  In September of 1999 Hurricane Floyd hit Virginia and our library was the worst hit in the state with a loss of over 1600 volumes.  Our operation came to a halt for several months as repairs got underway.  Over 12,000 books, and funds for materials and equipment were
donated from all over Virginia and other states.  We reopened on February 26, 2000.
